I enjoyed the first book in this series, so I went into this one with interest, but also a bit of hesitation. Unfortunately, I didn’t connect with the characters as much this time around, which made it harder for me to fully invest in their story.

The drama felt overwhelming at times and started to overshadow what I enjoyed about the setup. I understand that conflict is a big part of dark romance, but in this case, it often felt like things could have been resolved much more easily with basic communication. The constant misunderstandings and refusal to talk things through became frustrating for me as a reader. The past also loomed heavily over the present in a way that didn’t always feel productive to the story.

At points, I just found myself thinking: why can’t they talk to each other? So much tension could have been avoided with honesty, and that lack of communication made it harder for me to stay emotionally engaged.

Overall, while I still see the appeal of the series and the emotional intensity it tries to deliver, this installment didn’t land for me the way the first one did.
