I still loved the world-building and the constant unraveling of secrets.
— Abigail Books Addiction

I loved that the author jumps straight back into the story right after the cliffhanger from book two—there’s no slow buildup, and the tension is immediate. That said, this book was messy… emotionally, romantically, and plot-wise, and not always in a good way. I truly felt for the main character and understood why she made certain choices, but I couldn’t help thinking that she could have avoided so much pain if she had just left a note or explained herself to the other male love interest.

The entire situation with Grim, in particular, felt too chaotic for me. I struggled to understand how she could still love him after such a deep betrayal, and that conflict really pulled me out of the romance at times. Personally, I found myself rooting much harder for Oro—he feels like the more honest and compelling love interest, and I connected to him far more.

Despite my mixed feelings about the relationships, I still loved the world-building and the constant unraveling of secrets. The magic, politics, and hidden truths continue to expand in exciting ways, keeping me invested in the series. Even with its flaws, this installment adds depth to the story and leaves me eager to see how everything ultimately unfolds.
