“I’ll be picking up the next book in the series”
I was beyond excited to dive into this sequel—after that ending in the first book, I was more than ready to follow Odessa and Ransom on their next journey. Unfortunately, the beginning left me feeling a bit lost. The pacing dragged quite a bit, to the point where I found my interest slipping as I tried to piece together what was happening.
One of the additional POVs especially caught me off guard. It felt completely out of left field at first, and I struggled to see how it connected to the main story. That said, by the end, it did come together in a way that made sense, even if the journey getting there felt unnecessarily stretched.
Overall, I did enjoy the story and the continuation of the characters’ arcs, but it felt far too long for what it delivered. The pacing could have been tightened significantly without losing impact. Sorry—but not sorry—it just dragged more than it needed to.
Despite my frustrations, I’m still invested enough in the world and characters that I’ll be picking up the next book in the series.
