the constant betrayals were shocking and painful
— Abigail Books Addiction

I absolutely loved this book from the very first page. Almost immediately, I knew it was going to wreck me—and it did, in the best way possible. It left me completely in shambles, which only made me love it more. The story is packed with endless twists and turns, and watching the main character navigate them purely to survive was gripping and devastating.

What hurt the most was seeing how heartbreakingly necessary it became for her to abandon the innocence of a village girl and instead think and act like a ruler, a strategist—someone forged by politics rather than comfort. The constant betrayals were shocking and painful, yet entirely expected in such a ruthless environment, which made them feel even more real.

Above all, I loved how intelligent the main character is, through and through. Every decision felt deliberate, earned, and sharp. This book doesn’t just tell a story—it tests its characters, and by the end, it tested me too.
