This sports romance was such a rewarding slow-burn read. The story definitely starts off on the slower side, so keep that in mind going in, but once the characters begin spending more time together, I was completely invested in their journey. One of my favorite parts was watching their friendship develop naturally before the romance took center stage.
The grumpy sunshine dynamic was executed so well, and the forced proximity only made their chemistry even better. The tension built steadily throughout the book, making every romantic moment feel earned and worth the wait. I also appreciated how the story tackled some heavier topics and gave the characters emotional depth beyond the romance.
If you're planning to pick this one up, I highly recommend checking the trigger warnings beforehand, as several sensitive subjects are discussed. Overall, this was an emotional, character-driven sports romance with fantastic slow-burn tension, lovable character growth, and tropes that were impossible not to root for.
