I was really looking forward to this one, especially since I’ve enjoyed this author’s previous books, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite hit the same for me.
This is an "opposites attract" romance with a definite slow burn, which is usually right up my alley. The buildup between the leads had some sweet and genuine moments, and I appreciated the gradual unfolding of their relationship. The chemistry was there, but it took a long time to really ignite—and even then, it never fully hooked me the way I’d hoped.
One of the biggest challenges I had was connecting with the main character. While the writing was solid and the pacing was fine, I found myself feeling a bit detached emotionally, which made it harder to get fully invested in the story. I kept waiting for that moment where everything would just click, but it never quite came.
That said, it was still an enjoyable read—just not a standout for me. Fans of slow-burn romance might appreciate the tension and emotional layering, but if you’re coming into this expecting the same spark as the author’s earlier work, you might find it a little underwhelming.
